Our Specialities

Cataract

Clouding of the natural clear lens of the eye is called cataract. This can cause decrease in the quality of vision and can impede your daily activities like reading, driving, working on the computer etc.

The treatment for cataract is surgical removal of the cloudy lens and replacing it with an artificial Intra-Ocular Lens (IOL) via a procedure called Phacoemulsification.

Saradev Eye Hospital is equipped with the latest phacoemulsification machine and advanced IOLs which are handled by our experienced and skilled team of Cataract Surgeons and OT staff, guaranteeing an excellent visual outcome.

Vitreo-Retina

The retina is the posterior most layer of the eye, containing all the nerve fibres and photoreceptors capture incoming photons or light waves seen by the eye and transmit them in the form of electrical impulses so that the brain can perceive the image.

The vitreous is a jelly like substance just in front of the retina, which helps to maintain the normal shape of the eye and keeps the retina in its place.

Disorders of the vitreo-retinal complex include diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, dystrophies, degenerations etc.

Saradev Eye hospital is equipped with the latest laser technology, OCT machine and intravitreal injections used in the diagnosis and treatment of various retinal diseases.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an optic neuropathy or weakening of the optic nerve in the eye usually caused by an increase in the pressure inside the eye. This can lead to decrease in the visual field of the eye and ultimately leads to blindness.

Diagnosing this condition at the earliest is of utmost importance as it often goes unnoticed due to the lack of significant symptoms till the advanced stages.

Our hospital is equipped with advanced computerised Visual Field Analyser, OCT machine and other tools which aid our expert Glaucoma specialist in accurately diagnosing glaucoma.

The treatment can be medical or surgical, based on the stage of the disease and the patient.

Cornea and refractive surgery

Cornea is the transparent front portion of the eye that covers the iris and pupil and allows light to enter inside the eye.

Any irregularities in the cornea can cause refractive errors like astigmatism or in severe cases can cause bulging and thinning of the cornea, a condition called keratoconus.

Infections of the cornea are also seen quite often.

Refractive surgery involves the use of a special laser to change the shape of the cornea or the use of implantable lenses inside the eye to reduce/negate the use of glasses and provide better cosmesis.

Oculoplasty

The structures present around the eyeball like the eyelids, lacrimal apparatus, and orbital walls form an important support system for the eyes and are involved in various functions like tear production and drainage, maintenance of the ocular surface, protection from trauma, etc.

Some of the commonly encountered disorders of the eyelids and surrounding structures include: malpositions of the eyelids, drooping of the eyelid, infection/inflammation, congenital blockage of the nasolacrimal duct etc

Treatment is mainly surgical and our surgeons at Saradev Eye Hospital are extensively trained to give the best cosmetic and functional results.

Paediatric opthomology and Squint

Children are susceptible to a wide range of eye problems, including refractive errors like near sightedness (myopia), astigmatism etc; congenital conditions like cataract, drooping of the eyelids, nasolacrimal duct obstruction; or misalignment of the eyes (squint).

The Paediatric ophthalmologist and strabismologist at Saradev Eye Hospital has extensive experience in the field and the hospital is equipped to give the best treatment to all children in need.
